Outreach and Social Justice

Angel Helpers works with local social-service agencies to provide Christmas gifts, clothing, and toys for children and families in need. Volunteers help collect donations, purchase and organize gifts, and prepare them for distribution during the Christmas season. 

The Haiti Twinning Ministry builds a relationship of prayer, friendship, and charitable support between Sacred Heart and our twin parish in Haiti. Volunteers help maintain communication, promote awareness, organize fundraising efforts, and support the educational and pastoral needs of the Haitian parish community.  

Sacred Heart supports local food pantries by collecting food and assisting with the preparation and distribution of groceries to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Volunteers may sort donations, pack food, record client information, and help carry groceries to vehicles. 

The Holiday Baskets Ministry provides food to local families who may otherwise struggle to prepare a Thanksgiving or Christmas meal. Volunteers donate food or funds and help purchase, organize, assemble, and distribute baskets before the holidays. 

he Pregnancy Support Ministry assists local organizations that serve women and families facing challenging pregnancies. Sacred Heart supports this work through prayer, education, collections, and special efforts such as the annual Baby Bottle Campaign. 

The Respect Life Ministry promotes the dignity and sanctity of every human life from conception through natural death, in accordance with the teachings of the Catholic Church. Volunteers help educate the parish, support pro-life initiatives, host speakers and events, and advocate prayerfully for those whose lives are vulnerable. 

The Diocese of Richmond Work Camp gives teenagers opportunities to serve families in need by repairing and improving their homes. Adult volunteers, chaperones, and skilled contractors support the young people through preparation, fundraising, supervision, and participation in the weeklong experience of service, prayer, community, and Catholic worship. 

The Emergency Assistance Ministry offers compassionate, short-term help to individuals and families facing an unexpected financial or personal crisis. Volunteers serve with prayerfulness, sensitivity, discretion, and respect for the dignity of every person seeking assistance. 

The Soup Kitchen Ministry works with other local churches to prepare and serve meals to people in need. Volunteers share their time and basic kitchen skills by preparing food, serving guests, and helping with setup and cleanup.
